PDO Threads for a Younger-Looking Face Without Downtime, Lumps, or Bumps

As you mark the passage of another calendar year, there is a way to journey back in time, at least when it comes to your face. There’s no shortage of anti-aging tools that claim to make you look years younger, but few deliver quite the same results as PDO threads. This innovative cosmetic technique delivers both immediate and gradual results that will serve you well in the new year and beyond.

At Skin Shop medSpa, Dr. Tiffany Su and her expert team specialize in the latest products and services that help our clients in Houston, TX, look and feel their best. More than that, we do our research to provide you with anti-aging techniques backed by science and work with your body to give you an outcome that stands the test of time. PDO threads are one such treatment, and, best of all, there’s no surgery or downtime required.

Going upside down

Many things contribute to aging skin — photoaging at the hands of the sun’s ultraviolet rays, wear and tear, and the natural breakdown of your skin. These are nearly impossible forces to avoid, and, together, they inevitably leave their mark on the outward appearance of your skin in the form of lines, wrinkles, and blemishes.

From below, your skin relies on two proteins for elasticity and tone — collagen and elastin. These proteins provide a connective network of strong fibers in your tissue that keeps your skin resilient and able to bounce back time and again.

As the elements, namely the sun, beat down on your skin from the outside, your skin cells become damaged and unable to regenerate and repair themselves quickly enough. And, as you age, your collagen production slows with each passing year. This means that your skin is losing critical support from below on top of the assault on the surface. Combine the two, and you’re left with increasingly sagging and loose skin.

Threading it together

While facelifts have helped millions of people fight back against aging skin, the procedure is surgical and involves considerable downtime. This is why we’re excited about our new minimally invasive facelift using PDO threads.

PDO stands for polydioxanone, a polymer used for biomedical surgical sutures in pediatric heart surgery for more than 30 years. These sutures are biodegradable — your body fully absorbs them naturally in 4-6 months without leaving any scar tissue in its wake.

In this procedure, we inject these same threads underneath your skin and pull them up, lifting your skin. The threads hold your skin in place while also signaling your body to ramp up collagen production. WIth renewed collagen, the new position is reinforced naturally by this structural protein as your body absorbs the PDO threads.

We also use filling threads to smooth out scars or fill in indentations, evening out the surface of your skin while giving it a healthy, new glow. Using this technique, there are no lumps or bumps that belie your anti-aging and cosmetic efforts.

Pulling it together

One of our PDO threads’ best advantages is performing this nonsurgical facelift in one visit. First, we provide you with a local anesthetic for your comfort. Next, we use pre-loaded needles to strategically deliver the threads in the interstitial tissue at the subdermal level of your skin.

Once in place, we simply pull the needle out, leaving the threads behind. We can place the threads most anywhere under your skin, but they’re instrumental in repositioning the skin around your jaw and neck.

After your procedure, you’re free to go about your day because there’s no downtime. You notice immediate results, and the results only improve as your natural collagen takes over.
