What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that creates a smoother, more youthful complexion by triggering your body’s production of collagen and elastin, major tissue proteins that add resilience and smoothness.

During a microneedling session at Skin Shop medSpa, Dr. Su glides a device equipped with dozens of tiny needles across your skin. These needles create microinjuries that stimulate your body’s healing response.

As a result, your body turns over old cells and produces more collagen and elastin to repair the wounds, subsequently creating a smoother, more radiant complexion.

What is AQUAGOLD® Fine Touch™?

AquaGold® Fine Touch is a single-use microneedling device that creates microchannels in your skin with tiny needles. It enables Dr. Su to create a specific formula for the patient’s needs, which can include PRP, vitamins, Botox®, or filler that is then stamped into the skin at depths up to 1mm. It creates a glowing complexion, tightens pores, smooths out fine lines by stimulating collagen production, and superficially treating with Botox.

Is microneedling painful?

Prior to your microneedling session at Skin Shop medSpa, you receive a topical numbing cream to minimize any uncomfortable sensations. You will notice prickling and pinching during treatment, especially in thinner areas around your eyes and cheeks. Treatment is quick and well-tolerated by most patients.

Right after treatment, you may have some redness and swelling, but can go back to normal activities. If you’re self-conscious about your appearance, you may want to take a couple of days to lay low.

How soon will I notice the results of microneedling?

You’ll start to notice results of microneedling within one week. As collagen development continues and cells regenerate over the course of several weeks, your skin only looks better and more refreshed.

Just one treatment can give you a boost in appearance. Dr. Su recommends a series of 3-6 treatments, spaced about one month apart, to achieve the best results.
